Does an independent logbook service affect my new car warranty?
Under Australian Consumer Law, you do not have to return to the dealer for servicing to keep your new car warranty. The ACCC's guidance is that the service must be done by a qualified mechanic to the manufacturer's specifications, using parts suitable for the vehicle. Keep your receipts and logbook stamped.
Bring your logbook
Bring the logbook (or tell us if your car uses a digital service record) so we can see which interval you are up to and what was done last time.

Logbook Servicing: common questions
Can’t see your question? Call 0435 885 888 and ask.
What is the difference between a logbook service and a general service?
A logbook service follows your manufacturer's checklist for that specific interval and is recorded in the logbook. A general service covers the essentials such as oil, filters and safety checks, and suits older cars that are out of warranty.
Will a logbook service at GM Auto Mechanics void my warranty?
No. In Australia a new car warranty is not voided because an independent workshop does the servicing, provided it is done to the manufacturer's specifications with suitable parts. This is set out in ACCC guidance.
I have lost my logbook. Can you still service the car?
Yes. Tell us the kilometres and what you know of its history, and we will work out which service is due and record the work on your invoice.
