Why brake fluid matters
Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, which lowers its boiling point and can corrode parts inside the system. Most manufacturers specify a fluid replacement every two years or so; your logbook has the exact interval.
Grinding means stop soon
A grinding sound usually means the pad material is gone and metal is contacting the rotor. Driving on it damages the rotors and reduces stopping power. Call us and book it in as soon as you can.

How long do brake pads last?
It varies widely with the car, the pads and how you drive. Stop-start city driving wears pads faster than highway driving. We check pad thickness at every service and tell you roughly how much life is left.
Do I need new rotors every time I replace the pads?
Not always. If the rotors are above the manufacturer's minimum thickness and are not warped or scored, they may be reused or machined. We measure them and tell you which applies.
Is it safe to drive with the brake light on?
Check the handbrake is fully released first. If the light stays on, it can mean low brake fluid or a system fault. Get it checked promptly rather than waiting for your next service.
